12th Annual Feed the Harbor Event,
Feburary 28, 2021 from 9am 3 pm.

On March 20, 2010 Charlotte County Churches held their 1st annual "Feed the Harbor" event.  This initial campaign was co-sponsored by 11 area churches and 2 host Publix stores; Burnt Store Rd. and Charlotte Harbor.  The day started out with anticipation and excitement amongst all the volunteers.  Many had spent hours collecting empty boxes, spreading the word, and coordinating their teams.  The result was hundreds of shoppers purchased over 12,000 pounds of food at the 2 host Publix stores and over 100 volunteers sorted the food for distribution to local food pantries.

.....  Imagine our joyous surprise when 2 other Publix locations showed up with box after box of food that they had collected at their stores, on their own, without being a part of the initial campaign. By the end of day, trucks were loaded to deliver the food to 16 local food pantries....and all of this with 1.43" of rain.

At our second annual event, held on March 21st, 2011,  we were blessed to collect around 21,000 pounds of food, (over 10 tons!). The ministry had spread to include the Englewood section of the county as well as Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte.  13 churches, 4 Publix locations, volunteers from Macy's, H.E.L.P., and each of the churches filled box upon box of food to be distributed to 22 local food pantries.

Our ministry continues to grow. At our third event, held on the 18th of March 2012, we were blessed to add more churches, more volunteers, additional shopping locations and most importantly, more food to distribute to our local pantries.  In addition to these, we are now seeing support from local businesses that promoted our event.  We are looking forward to this year, our 4th annual event and seeing the fruit of the Spirit as people are moved to bless one another in the name of Jesus Christ.

On February 24, 2013, we held our Fourth Annual "Feed the Harbor" event. What a gift God has given us all, as our community, our churches, bind together as one body to be his "hands and feet" serving Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.  God provided abundantly this year as Kids and grandkids learned about giving back. Our community collected an estimate of 22,576 pounds of food as a result of the food drive. Twenty-Six food pantries were served, Seventeen Churches joined as one, over Two-Hundred volunteers showed up and Seven Publix Stores participated  Thank you for all the Love and service, and for making this day a great success.

February  23rd, 2014 was our 5th Annual "Feed the Harbor" event.  Once again, our community gathered together and supplied 25 food pantries with over 17,500 pounds of food collected.  Shoppers purchased food from the sample shopping list, and in many cases, purchasing buy one get one free deals.  Our volunteers, estimated from 175 - 200 people, worked the 6 Publix Food Stores.  What a turn out !  We as a community of Charlotte County are making a difference.  God is so Good!

February 22, 2015, was our 6th Annual "Feed the Harbor" event. We estimate that 18 churches promoted and shopped at this event. They along with countless shoppers from our giving community purchased 23.,500 lbs of food.
